the benefits differ at different stages of the disease?
Memory-Link DVDs are designed for use at
all stages. Persons in the early stages will have a greater ability to
converse. However, even in the later stages, when conversation is more
difficult, the benefits arise from the stimulation of seeing the images
and hearing the caregiver describe them. The memories can still be
accessed even if they cannot be articulated and your loved-one will
still benefit from the connection.

Can Memory-Link DVDs be used for conditions other than Alzheimer’s Disease?
Yes. Reminiscing has been shown to be an
effective technique with other forms of dementia, with Parkinson’s
Disease, speech/language therapy and depression. Any one who is old enough to relate to the
images can benefit from the aspects of life review that accompany
reminiscing. It is also an excellent tool for intergenerational use in
families and structured programs.

What if we do not have a
DVD player?
DVD players are now available for
purchase at a very reasonable price. Care facilities may wish to
consider financing the purchase of a DVD player through a raffle,
one-time gift from a family or through sponsorship from an appliance or
department store. For individuals, a DVD player plus a Memory-Link DVD
would be a wonderful gift to the one you love with Alzheimer's.

animation?
